Get Back Up

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again...”
(Proverbs 24:16, NIV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Life is full of things that try to push us down. We all face disappointments and setbacks. Maybe you received some bad news about your health or perhaps a relationship didn’t work out. That was a setback. It’s easy to get discouraged or lose your enthusiasm or even be tempted to just settle where you are. But if we’re going to see God’s best, we have to have a “bounce-back” mentality. That means when you get knocked down, you don’t stay down. You get back up again. You have to know that every time adversity comes against you, it’s a setup for a comeback!

Remember, as a believer in Jesus, the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives on the inside of you. There is no challenge too difficult, no obstacle too high, no sickness, no disappointment, no person, nothing that can keep you from your God-given destiny. If you stay in faith, then God will turn what was meant to be a stumbling block into a stepping stone, and you’ll move forward in strength, full of faith and victory!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, thank You for setting me up for success in everything I do. I choose to trust and rely on You knowing that Your plans are for my good. I know my best days are ahead of me and look ahead to the blessings You have in store for me in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Inspiration

Tuesday, 29 October 2013

“There is nothing more delicious than to have conscious awareness of a personal desire, conscious recognition of resistance that is preventing or slowing the manifestation, conscious releasing of that resistance, and then conscious recognition of the manifestation. That is Deliberate (Conscious) Creation at its best!

It seems a paradox to some—in the beginning—while it is not paradoxical at all: “I want these things because I would feel better in the having of them, but my awareness of their absence prevents me from having them. But if I can find a way of feeling better even without having them, then they can be mine.” A powerful Universal truth is simply this: you cannot attract the presence of something wanted when predominantly aware of its absence.

A withdrawal of attention from the unwanted condition is necessary in order to release it from your experience, but it is also necessary to cease the resistant thought that pinched off the Well-Being to begin with. This meditation process helps accomplish both of those things, and it lays the basis of a new and improved outlook on life... You will find it easier to find increasingly better things to think about. It will be easier to see the positive aspects in situations and people. You will find compliments flowing from you, and you will feel appreciation for more things.

The less resistant thoughts you think, the better you will feel; and the better you feel, the less resistant thoughts you will think. And because of all of that, your point of attraction will improve, causing improved manifestation of relationships and finances, as well as bodily conditions.”

Attitude in Adversity

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”
(Habakkuk 3:17–18, NIV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

We all face challenges, difficulties and times when things don’t go our way. God doesn’t send these storms, but He will allow us to go through certain things in order to shape our character and prove our faith. Really, it’s in our times of difficulty that we grow and develop.

God wants to use the tough times in our lives to do a work in us. He wants to strengthen and develop us. Our attitude in times of adversity is the evidence of our maturity. Are we going to treat people right even when we’re being mistreated? Are we going to stay full of joy even when the bottom falls out? Are we going to be faithful even in the dry seasons of our lives when we don’t see anything good happening?

It may take more effort. You may have to work harder to keep a good attitude, but remember, attitude and faith in God is the key to your promotion. As you keep that positive attitude of faith and expectancy, even in times of adversity, God will deliver you and move you forward into the destiny He has prepared for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, I want to grow spiritually and be more like You. I choose to trust You in times of adversity knowing that You are working things out for my good. Renew a right attitude in me by Your Spirit in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Switch Over to the Victory Channel

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things.”
(Philippians 4:8, NKJV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

It’s interesting that our mind will naturally gravitate toward the negative. A study showed how positive and negative memories are handled by different parts of the brain. A negative memory takes up more space. There’s more to process. Because of this, we will remember the negative more than the positive. For example, a person will remember losing $50 more than they will remember gaining $50.

Knowing this, we have to be proactive with our thoughts. When the negative memories come back to the movie screen of our mind, many people pull up a chair, get some popcorn and watch them all over again. No, the point is that’s not the only channel. There’s another movie playing on a channel that’s filled with your accomplishments and victories.

Instead of staying on that negative channel, you’ve got to switch over to your victory channel. You’re not going to move forward into the new things God has in store if you’re always replaying the negative things that have happened to you. Instead, learn to change the channel. Meditate on victory and move forward in the victory and blessing God has in store for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, today I choose to set my focus on what You’ve done in my life. I choose to change the channel in my mind from defeat to victory. I set my thoughts on Your love and thank You for Your blessing in every area of my life in Jesus’ name! Amen.

- Abraham Hicks (Money and the Law of Attraction)

Sunday, 27 October 2013

Hello my amazing readers, hope everything is going well for you. I am gonna be sharing some amazing wisdom from Abraham Hicks. Enjoy and apply.

We want you to understand that if you continue to look at what-is and speak of what-is, you will not find the improvement that you desire. You may see a parade of changing faces and places, but your life experience will essentially show no improvement. If you want to effect substantial change in your life experience, you have to offer substantially different vibrations, which means you must think thoughts that feel different as you think them.

The void that these people are feeling cannot be filled with things or satisfied with action, because the feeling of void is about the vibrational discord between their desires and their chronic habits of thought. Offering better feeling thoughts, telling a different story, looking for positive aspects, pivoting to the subject of what you really do want, looking for positive what-ifs – that’s how you fill that void. And when you do, a most interesting thing will occur in your experience – the things you’ve wanted will begin to flood into your experience. But these things that you’ve been wanting will flood into your experience not to fill your void, because that void no longer exists, they flow in because your void no longer exists. Certainly, you will gather many magnificent things into your experience. Our message is not for you to stop wanting, having or doing. Our message is for you to want and accumulate and do from your place of feeling good.

Mind Stuff

Friday, 25 October 2013

Your business was created by virtue of your thought, not your action. Many people feel disagreement with that statement because they believe they are seeing the results of physical effort and action. We certainly do not disagree that you live in a world of action and that results can be attributed to action, but when you realize that your vibration plays a far greater role in the outcomes that you‘re producing than does your action, and you begin to put more emphasis on your vibrations, thoughts and your emotions, you‘ll discover a powerful leverage of your time and energy that will profoundly affect your outcomes. In short, you will achieve far greater results with much less time and effort.

The most valuable skill that you could ever develop is the skill of directing your thoughts toward what you want, to be adept at quickly evaluating all situations and then quickly coming to the conclusion of what you most want, and then giving your undivided attention to that. There is tremendous skill in directing your own thoughts that will yield results that cannot be compared with results that mere action can provide.

The Benefits of Cucumber Juice

Friday, 25 October 2013

Vegetables should help form the foundation of your diet -- women need 2.5 cups daily and men need 3 cups, recommends the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Each cup of cucumber juice counts as 1 cup of veggies to help you reach these intake goals. In addition to the general benefits of a diet rich in vegetables -- including a lower risk of obesity and some types of cancer, according to the USDA -- drinking cucumber juice offers specific health benefits due to its nutrient content.

Vitamin K
Drinking cucumber juice helps you reach your recommended daily intake of vitamin K. This vitamin helps you build strong bone tissue and nourishes your kidneys. It also plays an important role in blood clotting -- it activates proteins that trigger blood coagulation, so that you can stop bleeding after suffering tissue damage. Consuming cucumber juice helps to fight the effects of vitamin K deficiency, which can include nosebleeds, bruising and bleeding gums.

Copper
Cucumber juice also provides a source of copper. Copper helps you make neurotransmitters, the family of chemicals your brain cells need to communicate. It helps you produce healthy red blood cells, strengthens your connective tissue and boosts your immune system. It protects you from free radical damage -- cellular damage that develops when you're exposed to environmental toxins or sunlight. The copper in cucumber juice also supports your active lifestyle, since your cells need copper to produce useable energy.

Calcium
Cucumber juice serves as a vegan-friendly source of calcium, an essential mineral. Hydroxyapatite, the mineral tissue that adds strength to your teeth and bones, contains calcium, and getting enough calcium helps retain your bone density. Your muscles also use calcium to contract, and your nervous system relies on small amounts of calcium to help transmit nerve impulses. Getting enough calcium also helps maintain your body's hormone balance, since calcium in your bloodstream helps control hormone release.

Considerations and Serving Tips
Cucumber juice has one major nutritional disadvantage compared to whole cucumber -- it does not contain dietary fiber, the indigestible carbohydrate found in intact cucumber. If you drink cucumber juice as part of your daily vegetable intake, make sure you also eat whole veggies to boost your fiber intake. Whole grains, legumes and nuts also contain fiber. You can also utilize the fiber from cucumber after juicing -- simply freeze the leftover pulp collected from your juicer, and use it to add fiber to pureed soups and sauces. In addition to enjoying cucumber juice on its own, you can use the juice as a base for healthy smoothies -- try blending the juice with frozen melon balls and fresh mint, or with strawberries and basil, for a refreshing beverage.

Don’t Underestimate What You Have

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin...”
(Zechariah 4:10, NLT)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

When David faced Goliath, in the natural, all he had was a slingshot and five smooth stones. It looked insignificant and ordinary, nothing special. But God breathed on it, and he defeated Goliath and became the king of Israel. Sampson was surrounded by a huge army. Everywhere he looked there were horses, chariots and weapons. All he had was the jawbone of a donkey. No weapon. No armor. Nobody backing him up. But he picked up that jawbone, God breathed on it, and he defeated 1,000 men; the whole army. All Moses had was on ordinary stick, something he found on the ground. Yet, when he picked it up and held that rod in the air, the Red Sea supernaturally parted. All John and Dodie Osteen had were 90 people and an abandoned, rundown feed store, yet God breathed on them and did something extraordinary.

Today, don’t underestimate what you have. It may look small and insignificant. Compared to what you’re facing, it seems impossible; but when God breathes on your life, the odds dramatically change! Stay open, keep expecting, stay close to Him and watch Him do something extraordinary in your life!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, today I bless You and glorify You. Thank You for taking what I have in my hand and breathing Your life into it. Today, I expect the extraordinary. I expect to see You move on my behalf as I give You the praise and glory in all things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Lack No Good Thing

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing.”
(Psalm 34:10, NLT)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

It’s easy to think, “If I had more money, I could accomplish my dreams. If I had this or that, or knew the right people, then I could do something great.” But as long as you feel like you’re lacking or that you were shortchanged, then you’ll make excuses to be less than your best.

Today, get a new perspective. God has given you exactly what you need for the season that you’re in. You have the talent, the friends, the connections, the resources, the experience you need for right now. It doesn’t mean that’s all you’re ever going to have. You may need more next month or next year. When that time comes, God will make sure that you have what you need. Because your trust is in the Lord, you don’t have to worry. You lack no good thing.

Remember, you are equipped, empowered and anointed for this moment. You are not lacking. You have what it takes. Rejoice because increase is coming. Promotion is coming. New opportunities are coming. You are ready for whatever may come because you put your faith and trust in Him.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, thank You for Your provision in my life. Today I declare that I trust You! You give me everything that I need as I rest and hope in You in Jesus’ name. Amen!

The Fullness of the Blessing

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“But I know that when I come to you, I shall come in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.”
(Romans 15:29, NKJV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

God wants you to live in the fullness of His blessing. His blessing is His supernatural empowerment. It is His favor. We’ve all seen a measure of His blessing, but there is a whole new level He wants to take you to. God has promises and opportunities in store for you that you haven’t even thought of yet. What you’ve seen in the past is only a fraction of what God wants to do in your future.

Understand that God likes to outdo Himself. He wants to open doors for you and bring out talents and abilities that you didn’t even know you had. Remember, the God we serve is a God of abundance. He is the God of more than enough. Not only does He want to meet your needs, He wants to give you enough to bless other people. That’s living in the fullness of the blessing!

Today, don’t settle where you are. Your destiny is not determined by the economy, your past, or what anyone else thinks or says; your destiny is determined by Almighty God. He wants you to tap into a greater measure of His blessing and live in the fullness He has in store for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, I come before You today with an open and humble heart, ready to receive all You have for me. Teach me to live a life that is pleasing to You so that I can be an example of Your love in the world around me in Jesus’ name. Amen.

7 Habits of Highly Positive People: The Secret to Constant Happiness

Wednesday, 16 October 2013

1. Don’t let bad things pull you down

Highly positive people take bad things and see the good things in them.

Bad things can happen to anyone. The difference between a positive person and a negative one isn’t the events that happen to them but how they respond to those events. While negative people let bad things pull them down, positive people don’t. They take bad things and make the best out of them.

As Randy Pausch once said, “We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.”

A great example is Oprah Winfrey, one of the most influential women in the world. She was, for a time, the world’s only black billionaire. Oprah may be rich and successful today, but she faced extreme hardship as a child.

When she was born up till the age of six, Oprah lived in rural poverty with her grandmother. She was so poor that she often wore dresses made of potato sacks, for which the local children made fun of her for.

When she was nine, Oprah was sexually abused–by the people closest to her, her cousin, uncle, and a family friend. At 13, after years of abuse, Oprah ran away from home. She was pregnant at 14 but her son died shortly after birth.

She attended an affluent suburban high school, Lincoln High School, but had her poverty constantly rubbed in her face as she would ride to school with fellow African-Americans who were servants of her classmates’ families.

Despite this extreme hardship, Oprah did not let it get her down. She overcame her adversity to become a benefactor to others, first becoming a radio anchor at 19, then having her own daytime talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show at 22. Through the show, she has helped millions of people around the world, empowering people to take charge of their life and drawing from both her life lessons and her interviewees’ life lessons to inspire others.

If Oprah had caved in the face of hardship, she would never be where she is in life. She is such a positive light because she chose to make the best out of difficulties she was dealt with and subsequently use these lessons to help others.

Likewise for you, don’t ever let yourself get pulled down by your difficulties. Rather, ask yourself what you can learn from them and how you can turn them around to create the life you seek. Such a proactive approach is the start to living an empowered, happy life.

2. Appreciate every good thing that comes your way

Highly positive people are grateful for every good thing that comes their way.

A month ago I conducted a 14-day gratitude challenge on my personal development blog, Personal Excellence, to over 200 participants. Aside from the assigned gratitude tasks to be done one task a day, I asked my participants to identify at least three things to be grateful for every day.

While it was awkward to deliberately find things to be grateful for at the beginning, many participants quickly eased into the task after a couple of days. From friendships, to daily coffee, to burnt toast, to family vacations, to life itself, many gained a new-found appreciation for these very things which they tended to take for granted.

The participants emerged from the challenge more appreciative and positive of life, even though their lives have technically not changed much compared to before the challenge.

Many of us tend to focus on the negative things in life and that naturally makes us feel negative. Why not pay attention to the many great positive things in our lives instead? For example, instead of being upset at the traffic jam you are in right now, why not be grateful for the vehicle you get to drive?

Instead of lamenting about your lousy boss, why not be grateful that you have a boss to lament about as opposed to being retrenched or unemployed? You’ll be surprised to see how many great things you already have going on with this little mindset shift.

3. Lead a well-rounded life

Highly positive people lead a well-rounded life. This means they don’t let work take over their life; neither do they let their relationships override their personal agenda.

I used to devote all my attention to work, to the point where I deprioritized my social life and my personal leisure. While it was great fun working since my work (helping others to grow) is my passion, I became very uninspired after a while because I was neglecting my other life areas. This was when I realize the importance of a well-rounded life to my emotional well-being.

So today, I ensure that I devote time to the core areas of my life: career, love, family, friends, self (through recreation), and contribution. My life wheel video shares the 11 core areas that make up our lives (collectively termed as the “life wheel”) and how to start achieving a 10/10 in all the areas.

4. Deal with your problems right away; don’t let them linger

Highly positive people deal with their problems right away rather than ignore them.

One thing I consistently teach on my blog and in my coaching is not to ignore your problems. Because ignoring your problems doesn’t mean that they will go away. Often times they will linger around and weigh you down subconsciously, even though you don’t realize that.

For example, I used to be an emotional eater where I would eat in response to my emotions like stress and sadness. For a long time I never dealt with this problem, choosing instead to drown myself in food whenever I felt bad.

Later I realized that I was utterly miserable because my stress eating (a) was causing me to gain extra weight, and (b) had turned me into a slave of food. It was only two years ago when I began tackling this issue and a year ago when I achieved complete resolution.

A simple tip to deal with your problems is to (a) keep a record of all outstanding issues you’d like to deal with, then (b) work on them one at a time. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming tackling multiple problems, but doing it one at a time will help you to manage things easily.

5. Let go

Highly positive people let go of the things that do not support them in living a conscious and positive life. This includes toxic and negative relationships.

I once had to let go of a deep friendship of 10 years because we were severely holding each other back. While I was always working on bettering myself, he tended to procrastinate on his own development and would at times live vicariously through my progress.

His lack of proactiveness in living the life of his dreams would negatively impact me as we had always agreed to work on our life goals together and take action together as best buds. I also felt that I was responsible for his inactions if he was truly living vicariously through my own goal progress.

While we tried to work things out in the beginning, it never happened. All our attempts to resolve this issue drained us as we kept going round in circles. After years as buddies, we were simply not compatible as each other’s good friend anymore.

We finally parted ways after 10 years and we immediately felt relieved of a dead weight.

Looking back I wish we had moved on earlier because the later years of our friendship actually drained us more than they helped us to grow.

Think about the negative things in your life right now — from toxic people, to energy vampires, to negative beliefs, to unhappy thoughts, to things that trigger unhappy memories — and start letting go of them, one by one. The sooner you let them go, the happier you will be.

6. Take responsibility for your life

Highly positive people take responsibility for their lives because they realize that happiness is a choice.

For all the problems, heartaches, toxic people, and baggage you are facing, take responsibility for them. While you may not have created those problems and they may be the result of others’ misactions, you can still take responsibility for experiencing them. Doing so puts you in the position to put a stop to them.

For example, I once experienced a heartbreak with someone I liked. While initially I faulted him for bringing me such pain and anguish, it was only in the later years when I took responsibility for my emotions and the situation that I was finally able to move on.

I later realized that I can literally control my happiness by taking responsibility of my negative emotions (and subsequently my life). Because it’s when I do that I can then take action to address my unhappiness and the situations causing it, rather than putting blame on others. Subsequently, I was able to easily move on from two other relationships that didn’t work out.

7. Spread love and kindness (by helping others)

Last but not least, highly positive people spread love and kindness to others without expecting to get anything back in return.

One of the most rewarding things one can do in life is to help others. This is something I have experienced every day for my past five years of running my personal development blog.

The changes I see in my readers’ lives, the happy looks on their faces, and the deep emotional shifts they experience from reading my articles or attending my courses — these bring so much joy into my life and are reason enough for me to continue what I’m doing forever.

While some of us may think that we need to achieve X status or Y age before we can help others, that’s not true at all. The simplest things can help others: one little phone call to a distanced friend, one pat on the back to congratulate a co-worker for a job well done, or a shoulder to lean on for a friend in need.

I started my blog at a relatively young age of 24 which most people wouldn’t think of as an old-enough age to offer help or advice to others. That was a limiting belief on their part though, because we can always help others no matter how old we are or where we are in life.

In the past five years I was able to help many break through limiting careers, let go of toxic relationships, gain strength from hard moments, excel in their goals, and achieve greater heights by simply focusing on helping those I can help, one step at a time.

If I had thought that one person couldn’t make a difference, I wouldn’t be sitting here writing this blog post today, and neither would I be running a personal development blog or doing life coaching for others.

You have more power than you think you have, so use that to help others. You will find that when you give, you will naturally receive in return as well.

Choose Blessings for Your Future

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.”
(Deuteronomy 30:19, NKJV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Your words have creative power. With your words, you can either bless your future or curse your future. If you want to know what your life is going to be like five years from now, just listen to what you’re saying about yourself today. Too many people go around saying, “I’ll never get well. I’ll never get out of debt.” “It’s flu season. I’ll probably get it.” “This marriage is never going to last.” Then they wonder why they don’t see things turn around. It’s because they’re calling defeat into their future. They’re calling in mediocrity. Don’t let that be you!

When you wake up in the morning, no matter how you feel or what things look like, instead of using your words to describe your situation, use your words to change your situation. Make a declaration of faith by saying, “This is going to be a great day. I have God’s favor. He’s directing my steps.” When you do that, you are choosing to bless your future. You are calling in favor, increase and opportunities. You are opening the door for God to move on your behalf so you can live the abundant life He has for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, thank You for the blessings You have prepared for my future. I submit my ways and my words to You. Help me to speak what You speak and keep me close to You. I give You the glory in all things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Micah Stampley- Desperate People Lyrics

Monday, 14 October 2013

I've seen the God of wonders
Work miracles for me
Those with gifts and talents
Spoke prophetically
The mantles of Elijah, Paul and Timothy
I want to see that power at work inside of me

Cause I'm tired of the status quo
There's gotta be more than this
There's gotta be more, gotta be more
There's gotta be more than this
Desperate people do desperate things '
And we're pressing in
There's gotta be more
Gotta be more
There's gotta be more than this

There's a people rising the faces shining bright
They speak the name of Jesus
As they're walking toward the light
And we will seek His power, his presence and his grace
And we won't stop persuing, until we see Him face to face,

Cause I'm tired of the status quo,
There's gotta be more than this
There's gotta be more, gotta be more
Gotta be more than this
Cause desperate people do desperate things,
And were pressing in,
There's gotta be more, gotta be more,
Gotta be more than this

We are desperate people we want more more Lord
We are desperate people we want more more Lord

Tithing and early Babylonians

Monday, 14 October 2013

Tithing has been used since the times of the early Egyptians, Babylonians, Arabians, Greeks, Romans, and Chinese. The word "tithe" means "tenth" and the ancient people regarded (the number) 10 as the number representing increase.

The foundation for the ancient law of prosperity is the universal belief that true prosperity comes from a spiritual basis. God, Buddha Nature or Absolute Awareness is the Source of all supply. Our minds, emotions, bodies, our talents, education, experiences, our jobs or professions are all vehicles or instruments of this prosperity; however Spirit or Awareness is the source. It therefore follows that if we want to be consistently prosperous we need to do something to "keep in touch" with that infinite source of all supply.

True Generosity is the practice of selfless giving (ie with no strings attached). It is also known by the universal adage "as you give so shall you receive." Regular, consistent giving opens the door to regular, consistent receiving. This must be done in a specific manner; through the giving of the "tith"” or a "tenth" portion of your income firstly to wherever you are receiving spiritual guidance or inspiration, on a regular monthly basis. You will prosper, and you will also help your spiritual teacher or organization to continue with their spiritual mission of helping mankind. From there - everyone prospers. It is important to emphasize that one's intention need to be on selfless-giving, and not on the getting.

Kahlil Gibran wrote in the Prophet, "It is good to give when asked, but it is better to give when unasked, through understanding."

Prosperity is not just about money. The word wealth means "well-being" and "wholeness." True prosperity includes peace of mind, healthy relationships, protection from negativity, as well as financial abundance. Tithing done in a systematic, business-like, scientific and practical manner helps to open us to receive in all aspects of our lives.

Tithing is an act of faith which functions on spiritual principles in order to protect and bless the "tither". Many people think, "but I can’t afford to tithe" or "I don’t have enough to tithe." These examples of limiting thoughts are part of the reasons why one doesn’t have enough. They contribute to the self -fulfilling prophecy that you’ll never have enough. It sometimes requires a "leap of faith" to overcome these resistant thoughts and allow spiritual abundance, prosperity and well-being into our lives.

Staying Rock Solid

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
(Matthew 7:24, NIV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

When we have rock-solid faith, we won’t be moved by what’s happening around us. We have peace in our hearts and minds because our hope is in God. We have an attitude that says: “I’m not moved by this medical report. I respect and honor people that are trying to help me, but I know God can do what medical science cannot do. God made my body.” “I’m not moved by the economy, the stock market, my job situation. I know God supplies all of my needs. He promised He would prosper me even in a recession.” “I’m not moved by how my children are acting. I’m not stressed out because they’re off course, making poor choices. I know it’s only a matter of time. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Friend, that’s unshakeable faith. That’s building your house on a rock-solid foundation. When the storms of life come, you won’t be moved. How do you stay rock solid? By meditating on the Word of God and following His commands. It’s that simple. Instead of making your circumstances the focus, you make God the focus and stand strong and secure in Him! Today, make spending time with God your number one priority and learn to stay rock solid in Him!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, thank You for Your Word which is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I choose to hide Your Word in my heart. I choose to meditate on Your promises. I know that You are faithful to Your Word and thank You for rock-solid faith as I keep my heart and mind focused on You in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Who God Rewards

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
(Hebrews 11:6, NIV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

When God is first place in your life, and you make pleasing Him is your highest priority, then you can fully expect to live a blessed, fulfilled life! In today’s verse, notice who God rewards. It’s not people who half-heartedly seek Him. It doesn’t say “people who only think about Him when they’re having a problem” or “people who will only come to church when something special is going on.” No, God rewards people who earnestly seek after Him. That means we are determined. We get up every morning and thank Him for His goodness. We go through the day meditating on His promises. We give Him praise in the good times and the tough times. We are constantly stretching, growing, learning and striving to know Him better.

Today, remember, when you diligently seek God, He promises that a reward is coming. He promises He will give you strength, wisdom, favor, good breaks, promotion, healing and restoration. When you seek Him with your whole heart, you will find Him, and you won’t be able to outrun His goodness and blessing!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, I desire to please You in everything I do. I declare that You are good and faithful. I trust You with my whole heart and believe that You are a rewarder of those who diligently seek You. I bless You and honor You today in Jesus’ name. Amen

Wars, Rumors of Wars, Famines, and Earthquakes in Divers Places

Friday, 11 October 2013

Have you ever wondered what the end of the world might be like? Jesus’ disciples did. They asked Jesus about it at the Mount of Olives:

“…what shall be the sign of thy coming, and the end of the world?” (Matt. 24:3)

To millions around the globe, Jesus’ response tells them that it will be a terrible apocalyptic scenario, but students of esoteric interpretation know that Jesus’ answer gives them a secret to the mind. Most scriptures are about the body and mind, not the literal events we read about. Let’s dissect Jesus’ answer to understand this important event and how it could one day relate to you.

First, Jesus’ response:

“And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take head that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars, and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places…”

Do not be deceived by a false Christ

I want to dissect the above scriptures one at a time. Jesus began by telling us that many people will come saying they are the Christ, but do not be deceived. What did he mean?

Put simply, a false Christ is the ego. The ego in man masquerades as truth, when really it is the illusion. And often it is the institutional church which reinforces the ego in man. Man, and more importantly, the ego, will always be around preaching and promoting doctrines, institutions, religious ideologies, and strongholds that keep the lower ego in man in power.

One of the major deficiencies of the church today is that nothing is preached on developing the Christ within. The Christ within is where the real power for transformation is. One of Paul’s and Jesus’ main messages was to help us birth the Christ that is an inherent, latent potential within individual consciousness.

“My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed within you…” (Gal. 4:19).

“To whom God would make known what is the riches of this glory of the mystery among the gentiles (non-spiritual), which is Christ in you…” (1 Col. 1:27).

“…the Kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:21).

Our thoughts make everything in life go round. Our thoughts make or break us. If we can’t view life through spiritually mature eyes, the most insignificant situations become gigantic problems that no salvation message is going to fix. It is the game of the ego. Drama, drama, and more drama. Religious doctrines reinforce the drama. They so often stunt our growth because it puts conscious development on hold. How? Because they cause the ego to become entrenched. Belief systems are established that don’t really serve us or our fellow man. Religious doctrines teach us to be someone which will ultimately perish. It teaches us to believe, “I am right and you are wrong!” The ego is like the Pharisee. It filters the truth into a very limited perspective. Jesus’ mission included showing us the Pharisee can easily lie within us, through the ego.

Wars and rumors of wars

Next Jesus talks about wars and rumors of wars. Wars and rumors of wars having been going on for thousands of years. Can we really believe that Jesus was giving us a literal prophecy? If this was truly one of the warning signs of Jesus, it wouldn’t be valid. Nothing’s changed. There were wars in Jesus’ days and there are wars now. It should be obvious that Jesus wasn’t referring to literal wars. The scriptures always have a deeper meaning.

Exodus 15:3 states:

“The LORD is a man of war; the LORD is his name.”

Does it make any sense to say that the LORD of love, compassion, mercy, and longsuffering is a man of war?

This scripture is puzzling through traditional Christian interpretations. It would seem to justify events like the Inquisition, where millions of people were killed because they weren’t Christians.

Think about the Canaanites whom God asked the Israelites to eradicate from the Promised Land. All these Canaanites represent our lower thoughts and emotions of our selfish desires. Therefore, the LORD is a man of war because the LORD, as the higher self, comes in to clean house so that we can enter the Promised Land (higher states of conscious living).

Thus we can see that God is not a literal man of war; God is a man of war because he fills us so that we can end all wars within ourselves. He is the conqueror of the ego of man.

So what did Jesus really mean when he said there will be wars and rumors of wars?

Wars are symbolic of the conflict created by the ego. The wars are in our heads. Jesus was warning us about what happens in the mind of the individual. Before the death of the ego (the end of the world), the ego reigns. This ego creates conflict. When Christ returns in the individual (within you), the warring of the mind stops! Why? Because we stop identifying with the mind. We realize that the mind and the true intelligence that makes it possible is much larger than the individual ego the mind has the power to manifest. This is what it means to be resurrected.

Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom

Next, Jesus says that nation will rise again nation and kingdom against kingdom. Nations and kingdoms of the world are symbolic for the characters of the lower soul; they are pride, ambition, greed, conceit, and lust. Naturally this rhetoric is a continuation of Jesus’ discourse on the state of man’s ego. First comes the development of our lower natures. But through our experiences (sometimes suffering, as even Jesus learned obedience through suffering), we have the opportunity to advance consciousness.

Consider Isaiah 2:4, another messianic prophecy:

“And he (the messiah, the Christ) shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn anymore.”

We don’t fight wars with swords or spears anymore. We fight wars with missiles, nuclear weapons, and stealth technologies. Is there really a reason to believe that this prophecy is literal if it isn’t even relevant to today?

The mystic Jews who guarded these scriptures as sacred knew this prophecy was all about the day the messiah would return within the consciousness of the individual. Only then can all wars end, internally and externally!

Many Christians believe that the Jew has rejected their true messiah, the Christ. But is this the truth? Sadly, no. The truth is that many Jews and Christians have rejected the messiah and the Christ. They are one and the same. Let us stop bickering over semantics. The ideal that is the messiah and the Christ is beyond doctrine. It is even beyond our belief systems. It is a part of the true power of consciousness itself.

Famines and pestilences

Jesus then said there will be pestilence and famines. I have wrote about these symbols in other posts. Famines represent a severe shortage in the soul; it is a lack of spiritual development in the mental-emotional state. This is perfect language for Jesus to use, because wars usually lead to famine in the natural. It’s no different with the soul and within the individual. When the ego is in charge, your soul is famished. Wars of the mind leave us empty and devoid of life. They leave us famished.

Earthquakes in divers places

Finally, Jesus states that earthquakes will appear in increasing frequency and in places we wouldn’t expect. Review history, and you will see that again this has been the case over the past thousands of years. It’s not a literal prediction of the future. Earthquakes are symbolic of all the chaos in the lower state of consciousness. It’s usually a sign of the purging of the lower qualities of the ego right before a new state of consciousness. This is established many times in scripture.

“And behold, there was a great earthquake; for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came back and rolled away the stone from the door…” (Matt. 28:2).

“And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken, and all the doors were opened, and everyone’s hands were loosed” (Acts. 16:26).

As you can see, the earthquake is a sign of catalyst for the individual. It is a sign of the new age of consciousness. Doors to the mind began to open. Hands (the active principle of spiritual evolution) are loosed. In short, the lower man, the man in the egoic prison, must be shaken up and dismantled so that the higher man can reign, so that the Christ can manifest on earth.

This is true of the Old Testament as well. Whenever the earth opened up to swallow someone or a group, a purging took place and the nation of Israel was able to move forward one step closer to the Promise Land and higher states of consciousness.

Endure

The final message of Jesus is that we must endure.

“But he that endure until the end, the same shall be saved” (Matt. 24:13).

Those who endure to the end have the promise of a new dawn, the dawn of the daystar (Christ) arising in their hearts.

“We have a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well to take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the daystar arise in your hearts (minds)…” (1 Pet. 1:19).

Enduring is about facing the ego. It’s about realizing what the ego is, the game of life. Once we see the game for what it is, we then have more choices about how to play it. The situations in our life that were once monumental become smaller. The joys and the ups of life are more fully appreciated. Even the downs and the lows become meaningful. Life is renewed. It doesn’t mean all of the difficulties suddenly disappear during our sojourn here. It just means that we are no longer bound by the illusion that our situation is who we are. Consciousness can never be so limited.

Is the end of the world really the end of the ego?

Let’s be clear on one thing. The end of the world, at least from Jesus’ standpoint, is not the end of the ego. Ego death is sort of a misnomer. The ego doesn’t really die, just as Jesus didn’t really die on the cross. The life that was in him could never die. Instead, there was a power that resurrected him. The resurrection is symbolic of the new life that is provided when we realize what the ego truly is. It is sometimes termed “death” because it no longer has the power over us that it once did.

“Ego death” is more about a transmutation of the ego, from the lower man to the higher. It’s a transition from the lower ego to the spiritual ego. Even these words don’t do the transformation justice because they are just words. But the consciousness beneath the words is real. It can’t really be explained, only experienced.

Is the ego ultimately still there after what we term, “ego death?” Of course it is. You wouldn’t be an individual if it wasn’t. You wouldn’t have a sense of “I.” Realizing that we are one with everything doesn’t cause us to lose our individuality, but it does enable us to gain a new perspective through our individuality.

The spiritual ego is not motivated by lower thoughts and emotions. In other words, the lower ego ends when you don’t identify with your situation anymore.

So remember, the end of the world and the return of Christ happens within you. It brings new life. And it is one more step towards conscious spiritual advancement.

WORK-IN-PROGRESS

Memorise: For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. Mark 4:28

Read: Mark 4:26-29
And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; Mark 4:26

And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. Mark 4:27

For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. Mark 4:28

But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come. Mark 4:29

Bible in one year: Psalm 64-66
Message
God wants your hope to rise. He wants you to rise up. You can rise by being pushed up, pulled up or carried up. This season, you shall rise up. In 1 Kings18:41-45, we notice that while the fist-like cloud that appeared in answer to the prayer of Elijah was rising, it was also spreading. Verse 45 of the scripture says,
“And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.”
This simply, tells us that God does certain things in stages. The Gospel of Jesus Christ that would spread to all part of the earth started one day in Israel through the Saviour Himself. A business that would cover the world may start small in a hidden location.

This speaks of progressive increases. Sometimes, some blessings are received bit by bit progressively, yet they are from God. The lame man started rising, then by walking, then leaping and praising God at the beautiful gate (Acts 3:1-11). Even naturally, God designed trees to grow progressively.
“For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.”
Mark 4:28
God takes some people from nothing to being great and allows that greatness to spread and to keep on rising until the fellow becomes very great and is envied by nation. There are some people who are too impatient with God. When He starts a miracle, they sense it. In the process of Him moving it from one stage to another, they become impatient and start to complain that their miracles are hanging or incomplete. In the process, many have bungled their miracle. Be wise! Has the Lord started something good in your life or circumstance? Thank Him. You are a work-in-progress in His hands. You may not get the clear picture until He either shows it to you or when you meet Him on the other side of eternity. Know that the One who has begun a good work will surely complete it. He will perfect every good thing that pertains to you. Is there any unfinished business in your life? Engage thanksgiving from today.

Unshakable Confidence

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.”
(Hebrews 10:35, NIV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

When God places a promise in your heart, you have to come to the place where you believe it’s going to happen so strongly that nothing can talk you out of it. It may seem impossible. All the circumstances may tell you that it’s not going to happen, but deep down you have to have this confidence, this knowing, that God is still on the throne. He is bigger than any obstacle. He already has a way, and at the exact time, what He promised will come to pass. You have this unshakeable confidence. You know that God is fighting your battles, arranging things in your favor, making a way even when you don’t see a way.

Instead of being discouraged, you get up in the morning thanking God that the answer is on the way. Instead of talking about how big the problem is, you go through the day talking about how big your God is. Your mind is set in one direction: victory, favor, healing, restoration. It may be taking a long time, but God didn’t bring you this far to leave you. You’ve seen Him do it in the past, and you know He will do it again in the future. You are fully persuaded because when you know your God, you have unshakeable confidence!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, today I profess that my hope and confidence is in You! I choose to believe Your Word which says You are faithful and Your Word is forever settled in heaven. Show me Your love as I keep my heart and mind stayed on You in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Proverbs 23:7 and Our Emotions

Tuesday, 8 October 2013

Have you ever wondered how to purge yourself of a particular negative emotion that keeps repeating itself in your life? It’s not as hard as it may seem. If you are currently experiencing negative emotions in your life, this post may be particularly beneficial to you.

The first thing that you need to realize is that you are not your emotions. This may seem obvious when you think about it, but most of the time we take this for granted. You may feel a certain way in a certain situation and subconsciously you identify with it. That’s why people sometimes think, “I’m a depressed person.” Or, “I’m an angry person.”

Most of the time the truth is that they subconsciously believe they are a depressed or angry person which continually reinforces itself in certain situations. But do they have to continue being that way? The Bible gives us a pretty straightforward answer that is quite encouraging.

Proverbs 23:7 states that whatever a person thinks in his or her heart, so is he/she. This means there is a tremendous opportunity to experience positive emotions. The Biblical writer could make such a statement because he realized that his true self, the eternal aspect, is the power that gives rise to thoughts and emotions. This means that the true self can give rise to different thoughts and emotions, and whatever a person chooses to think, they become.

There is something that should be immediately obvious to us then: we are certainly not at the mercy of external events and the emotions they sometimes cause. We are magnificent beings with the power to express more positive emotions even in the midst of a seemingly unhappy circumstance.

But Doesn’t Time Heal Anyway?

You have heard the saying, “time heals.” If so, can’t we just wait it out? This is only partly true, and it’s not a conscious strategy. The negative emotion you might feel over a particular event, like a bad break-up with a partner for example, does seem to naturally dissipate in time. But that particular feeling is still buried in the subconscious somewhere and certain events can trigger it again. It hasn’t really been healed; your conscious attention just hasn’t been placed on it in between the circumstances that cause it to manifest. The same emotion may even rear its ugly head in a totally different type of situation that you can’t make any kind of conscious connection with. In other words, thinking time will heal you is only a temporary fix; you’re still going to be at the mercy of a particular pattern of emotion in the long run. Isn’t this the very opposite of the idea that time eventually heals everything?

I remember a person that I became quite close to when I was younger. We spent every weekend together. Often we went to the beach, went on walks, or just hung out around the house. I was very happy with her and enjoyed her company immensely. After a few months I told this person how I felt about her. She reciprocated and I believed we were both on the same page. But then I went out of town for a month over the summer and when I came back she had had a relationship with someone else. I had been downgraded from a relationship partner to casual friend just like that. As you can imagine, I was in shock. The entire time I was away I was looking forward to returning and picking back up where we left off. We had communicated during my time away, and I thought for sure we had something good going. To make a long story short, I became very hurt by the experience. But that wasn’t the particularly damaging part. Most of us have had a similar type experience. But the emotion that initially arose from such an experience became such a permanent part of who I believed I was that it carried over into my next relationship. It then carried over into the relationship I had with the woman who would eventually become my wife. I was very distrustful and it was a long time before I could tell the wonderful girl I loved how I really felt about her. This confused her and it definitely started us off on the wrong foot. Looking back now, I can see how much damage that did to the early phases of our relationship and marriage. So no, time doesn’t really heal. It just allows certain emotions to stay dormant awhile.

Becoming Conscious of Your Emotions.

I am going to propose a better solution: allow consciousness to transmute a negative emotion into a positive one. How do you do this?

The best way is to simply acknowledge the emotion when it arises. Hold it there. Meditate on it. Observe it. Just observe it. Don’t let a mental commentary begin running. The minute you let a mental commentary run you have identified with it. At that moment you are it. You have taken the eternal power that you are, consciousness, and identified that power with an emotion that does not uplift you. Remember, as a man thinks in his heart, so is he! (Proverbs 23:7).

Of course that is not what you want. But consciousness is impartial. It’s powerful, yes, but impartial. It becomes what you allow yourself to experience. This is part of what being an unconscious human being is.

Make sure you do not meditate on the situation that made the negative emotion manifest in the first place. This is what you are naturally tempted to do. But that is a mistake. That’s part of the running mental commentary and it only reinforces that emotion becoming more established in your personality.

Just let it be. Meditate on the feeling itself. Understand and acknowledge that you are not that emotion. It’s just a temporary experience. As you do this, the power of consciousness will begin to dissolve it. Its vibrational frequency will begin to change. Remember, just observe. No judging. No thinking. If you haven’t developed the ability of concentration power yet in meditation, (like I talked about in a recent series HERE), then I suggest you begin with this first. It won’t effectively deal with the negative emotion you might be having now, but it will allow you to later. We all have to begin somewhere.

Why does this work, anyway?

Consciousness itself is naturally at peace. Higher emotions, those of a higher vibrational frequency, are inherent in consciousness. When you shed the light of consciousness on a negative emotion, it must begin to change. This can’t be explained scientifically very well. Consciousness just is, and it is the beginning and end of everything.

For those of you that like analogies, I’ll provide a simple one:

Picture holding a magnifying glass on a hot sunny day over a dried-out dead leaf. The natural sunlight is your consciousness. The magnifying glass is the meditation. The dried up leaf is your negative emotion. As you hold the magnifying glass over the leaf, the sun’s light is concentrated into a beam that chemically changes the leaf. Without the concentrated sunlight the leaf remains. It would take quite a long time for it to break down naturally. But with enough concentrated sunlight that leaf must change. In the same way, when you observe your negative emotion, consciousness is turned on to that emotion and its frequency must change.

When you notice that the negative emotion is losing its power over you, it’s time to replace it with something positive. You are what you think. So think on something positive.

This process isn’t an instant fix, but it works. Let me know how it turns out for you should you decide to try it.

In the next post we’ll get a little more philosophical and discuss the true meaning for the symbol of Noah’s Ark. Hint: it’s not really a boat!

Blessings!

Greater meaning of Biblical Adultery

Sunday, 6 October 2013

Have you ever wondered if there is a greater meaning of adultery in the Bible than what the church preaches? What if I told you it isn’t what you think it is?

The Word Web dictionary states adultery as meaning:

Extramarital sex that willfully and maliciously interferes with marriage relations.

The authors of ancient scripture used adultery to illustrate a much broader sin than the definition you see above. In fact, the definition you see above didn’t really have anything to do with its true meaning in scripture. I’ll give you some pretty strong evidence to support my claims.

In Mark chapter 10:11-12, Jesus states:

“…whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, commits adultery against her. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and marry another, she commits adultery.”

Is Jesus really saying no one can ever get remarried? There are a lot of people in this world that deny any hopes of finding eventual happiness with another spouse because of Jesus’ words. Taken literally, they’d have the right to be cautious because Jesus really does seem to be saying that once you’ve been married, that’s it! You don’t get a second chance.

In another scripture Jesus states that the only grounds for divorce is when the other partner commits fornication. But something seems wrong here. What about an abusive husband or wife? Wouldn’t that be grounds for a divorce, Jesus? What about a spouse that’s addicted to drugs and alcohol, or treats their own children horribly? Did Jesus really expect someone to put up with this kind of behavior from a spouse their entire lives? Of course not. Jesus would have wanted a happy and healthy marriage, not one that makes you feel stuck in a prison!

Let me give you another example of adultery in the Bible that can’t be restricted to meaning an extramarital relationship. In John 8:3-11 the Pharisees brought an adulterous woman to Jesus to see what he would say. Verse four states:

“They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.”

That scripture states the women was caught red-handed! According to the law, this women would have to be stoned. But Jesus tells them that whoever among them is without sin should cast the first stone. Being guilty in their conscience, all of the Pharisees left the woman and Jesus alone. Jesus then tells her:

“…Woman, where are your accusers? Hath no man condemned thee? She said, no man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more” (John 8:10-11).

There are many problems with this scene. First of all the law stated that the man the women cheated with also had to be stoned, but the Pharisees never even involved him. This has always puzzled scholars. That’s our first clue that something’s amiss. Second of all Jesus would have had to obey the law and allowed this woman to be stoned. Thirdly, did Jesus have any compassion for the husband of this women that was cheated on? It’s almost as if Jesus didn’t think it was a big deal as long as the woman didn’t go out and do it again. That’d be like me realizing that my next door neighbor’s wife was having an affair on him. I find out and then tell her, oh, everything will be fine as long as you stop it. But what about my neighbor? Would everything really be okay for him? There’d be a lot of emotional baggage that would have to be dealt before everything would be okay.

These are not some petty claims I am bringing to the table. They are serious issues that can’t be explained away. So what gives?

The answer is simple: Biblical adultery is not a physical issue, it’s a spiritual one.

Biblical adultery is about forsaking the higher life for the lower one. It is a symbol for forsaking higher conscious living in order to be yoked with your desire nature and the gratification of the senses. It is about denying your soul’s evolution. What greater sin could there be, because once you forsake higher consciousness for the lower desire nature, that’s it! You have lost that precious moment in this life forever.

Adultery is a perfect symbol for this greater meaning because our wills are either joined to our higher or lower natures. It’s like a marriage. And you’re either faithful to one of the most important spiritual laws of the cosmos, the soul’s evolution, or you’ve cheated on it and you’re sleeping around with your desire nature and the immediate satisfaction of your senses.

Fortunately, the soul’s evolution cannot be denied in the end. We go round and round the mountain until we eventually advance. It may take a few dozen or even hundreds of lifetimes, but we eventually learn our lessons.

Genesis states that when a man marries a women the two shall be “one flesh.” This one flesh is a symbol for the divine marriage of the higher and lower self. In order for this to be accomplished, we must stay faithful to the spiritual path.

Now we can understand why Jesus doesn’t have to condemn the woman caught in the very act of adultery. The entire story was a metaphor for all our spiritual lives. Jesus and God aren’t sitting up in heaven right now waiting to punish us if we live to gratify the senses. The very moment we do it betrays us and we reap the consequences within our own consciousness. Understood in this light allows us to see that Jesus didn’t need to condemn the woman or follow any law that would bid him to do so. He was able to allow all present (the Pharisees) to realize their own conscious setbacks. We should all do the same.

All this information also sheds a little more light on Jesus’ words when he states:

“…whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her commits adultery with her already in heart” (Matt. 5:28).

It is the heart we must guard against adultery. The woman we lust after in the scripture above of course represents our desire nature. When we give into it, spiritual adultery has been committed and we have violated the spiritual law of God and the cosmos.

Closing thoughts

We are all guilty of not following the spiritual path. We are all guilty for jumping in bed with our desire natures from time to time. At least I am. And I realize that that moment in time has been lost to me when it happens. I don’t feel guilty, because we can’t take it back. But let it be a reminder to us to look forward to the higher calling again.

I also hope this post liberates any Christian who thinks that they are not able to remarry and enjoy an intimate relationship with someone again. Jesus never meant anything of the sort. If you have been in this predicament, you are certainly free to marry again. God would be happy if you’re happy.
