Secret of Saving

Monday, 2 December 2013

“There is great value, even if you are in debt, in using some of your money to create savings. Savings are a contribution to the flow of money in our society, for money that is save can be circulated and used to create more wealth. Savings give you resources that allow you to be self-sufficient. Savings are also a positive affirmation that you have more than you need at the moment. As you feel abundant, you become magnetic to even more money.”

“If you have stored money, you are less likely to be influenced by the ebb in the normal ebb-and-flow cycle. Nature uses this principle; just observe squirrels storing their nuts for the winter, or bears hibernating to save their energy.”

“The money you save acts as a “money magnet” to attract more money. The larger your savings, the larger your magnet.”

“The greatest benefit of saving money is that it allows you to get used to a larger and larger flow of money and the energy it represents, which is what you are asking for if you want increased abundance.”

The SIX BENEFITS of TONGUES as a SPIRITUAL GIFT

The SIX BENEFITS of TONGUES
as a SPIRITUAL GIFT

ONE - Speaking in tongues gives us a direct communication between our human spirit and the Spirit of God.

TWO - Speaking in tongues brings the secrets of God's Spirit into our spirit.

THREE - When we speak in tongues, we work toward the building up of our own spiritual strength.

FOUR - Speaking with tongues leads to the speaking forth of much that is profitable for others to hear.

FIVE - Tongues is beneficial in our praying.

SIX - Tongues releases us to a high form of worship.

ONE - Speaking in tongues gives us a direct communication between our human spirit and the Spirit of God. For whoever speaks in tongues is not speaking to men but to God -- I Corinthians 14:2a. Tongues is useful in our communication with God, even though it bypasses our understanding. This is the most basic thing to know about the use of tongues.

The word "unknown," as it appears in the King James Version, does not appear in this verse in the Greek. In fact, in no place does the Greek use the word "unknown" when speaking of tongues. In every case translators of the Scriptures inserted it with the intention of making the passage more meaningful. But to persons in whom the gift of tongues is operating, there is little need for the word "unknown," nor did Paul have a need to use it. Words uttered in tongues are generally unknown to persons hearing them, but they are not unknown to the Holy Spirit and to the spirit of the one speaking. As a person who speaks in tongues grows in relationship with the Lord, he ceases ever to think of tongues as "unknown."

When any of us is alone and speaking in tongues, we need have no concern as to whether the words we speak belong to a language spoken somewhere in the world, or not. All that need concern us is that we are speaking to God. It is the communication of something very personal between our spirits and His Spirit in which our understanding has little participation. But, since our spirits participate, we grow. Our wisdom grows, our faith grows, and by these, our understanding grows.

On some rare occasions, another person hearing someone speaking in tongues may recognize it as a known language, as on Pentecost. But this is infrequent and can be considered a miracle.

TWO - Speaking in tongues brings the secrets of God's Spirit into our spirits. Of the person speaking in tongues, Paul says,.. in the spirit he is speaking mysteries - I Corinthians 14:2b.

This speaking of the mysteries by tongues brings them into the human spirit. This prepares the speaker for the interpretation and understanding of secrets and purposes long resident in God's heart and now ready to be made known among His people.

Much of what Paul wrote in his Epistles flowed out of his spiritual communication with the Lord in which the divine mysteries became known to him. Speaking and praying in tongues opened a door from the Holy Spirit into his human spirit. Without doubt, for the moment, his understanding was unfruitful, but the door was opened so his spirit could receive these mysteries and then release them in his understanding. Then, he passed the revelation of truth on to others.

Throughout this Epistles Paul made mention of the mysteries revealed to him. In I Corinthians 2:7-12 he said, We speak the wisdom of God in amystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory. Indeed, all of I Corinthians may be an exposition of the wisdom and revelation God gave to Paul as he spoke in tongues.

In Romans 16:25,26 he told of the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery and how it works toward the establishing of lives. How valuable this is!

In I Corinthians 2:6,7 Paul said he was speaking wisdom among the mature ones, but it was not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world. He was speaking the wisdom of God which had been veiled in a mystery . . which God ordained before the world unto our glory. To restate this: "What I say to you in this letter is a revelation of the wisdom of God which was once a secret hidden in eternity with Him, but now is made known to us to bring us into His glory." Paul's communion with the Holy Spirit released this within him.

In I Corinthians 4:1 we see how Paul viewed those who minister the Gospel as stewards of the mysteries of God. Steward is from the Greekoikonómos which means "manager of a household." A good steward knows where are stored the commodities of the house under his management. He knows how to procure them. How blessed is the steward in God's house who knows what brings the release of the eternal mysteries that work toward establishing the souls under his charge!

From Ephesians 3:1-11 we find one of the greatest mysteries revealed to Paul was that the Gentile nations should become fellow heirs with the Jews in the body of Christ. This became the foundation of Paul's ministry. He was set in the world to make all people of every nation see what isthe fellowship of the mystery which from the beginning was hid in God. He said the wisdom of this mystery would eventually reach even unto the spiritual forces in the heavens and show them the prevailing power of the eternal wisdom of God.

Now here is an amazing thing - and something from which we gain a divine check for our own selves. The revelation of the mysteries made known to Paul all flowed in harmony with the Word given through the Prophets - Romans 16:26. Actually, much of the revelation given to him was the opening of the Word of the Old Testament once sealed.

By speaking in tongues, our human spirit becomes friendly with God's Spirit. Friends share secrets. The human spirit perceives the things of God's Spirit, and reaches through into areas the mind alone cannot reach. By this, the human spirit grows both in the perception of God and in relationship with what He is doing. As our spirit grows, the understanding of God's ways and of His holy purposes filters through into our understanding. This causes growth in our conscious awareness of God and brings a spiritual keenness. The mystery of His will -- that is, the depth of God's desire for us -- opens. Darkness departs.

THREE - When we speak in tongues, we work toward the building up of our own spiritual strength. We learn this from Paul's statement:Whoever speaks in a tongue edifies himself - I Corinthians 14:4a.

As we learned, the word edifies in the above verse is from the Greek oikodoméo. It literally means "to build or establish a house." But now -- tongues is not useful in the building up of the church as it assembles, unless it leads to the release of other spiritual gifts. The gift of tongues is for the building up of the individual. It is prophecy that builds up the church - I Corinthians 14:4b. Under the next point we will discuss this.

We've seen some believers who feel they can speak in tongues only when they are expressly "moved upon by the Holy Spirit" and lose control of their speech. This generally happens at the altar call closing an emotional and spiritually high pitched meeting. It is often a rather ecstatic speaking with little more meaning than that of a baby learning to make his first sounds of speech. But the tongues of which Paul is speaking in I Corinthians 14 is of much greater value than this, just as the speech of a person who can talk is better than the first sounds of a baby. But, those baby sounds are a necessary beginning. Only, one should not remain with this kind of speaking.

God made man in three dimensions: spirit, soul, and body. He designed the spirit to be the controlling part, the soul to be the conscious part, and the body to be the servant of these two. In many people the spirit is weak, so the control of affairs goes either to the soul or to the body. This throws the person off balance. It may not seem so to the one who is accustomed to the rule of the mind, or the emotions, or the physical drives. But, sooner or later, these faculties fail. The mind becomes baffled, the emotions run amuck with confusion, the body sends wrong signals leading to weakness. Particularly in a time of trouble, a person with no government in his life, other than from these lower parts of being, be comes, in some degree, dysfunctional. As the fury of the last days comes on, it is more important than ever that we have the stabilizing power of the Holy Spirit working inside us.

The Holy Spirit comes to bring the control of our lives back to the realm of God's Kingdom. He does this by making our spirits alive, bringing our minds to soundness and by strengthening us with His wisdom and faith.

FOUR - Speaking with tongues leads to the speaking forth of much that is profitable for others to hear. I haven't learned this from the King James Version which says, I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied -- I Corinthians 14:5. This seems to say, while tongues would be nice for everyone, it would be better for each one to prophesy, instead.

Understanding becomes clearer when we take note of the Greek words translated but rather that ye prophesied. The form of the word from which prophesied comes is an Aorist Subjunctive. The word that preceding it is from the Greek word hina. When it accompanies a Subjunctive, it means, "in order that." This would make Paul's statement say: "I would that you all spoke in tongues, but rather in order that you might prophesy." In other words, he was saying that tongues would be great for everyone, but not as an end in itself. Tongues should lead to prophesying.

What is prophesying? It is from the Greek word propheteúo which in ancient times meant "to be a spokesman for the gods." In the New Testament, it means "to be a spokesman for the Lord God." Paul is saying that tongues should lead to the release of prophecy, or wisdom, or revelation, or knowledge from God. The Holy Spirit can release these in the human spirit as a result of speaking in tongues.

It is not necessary that prophecy be loud or ecstatic. It can be quietly spoken, even whispered in the ear of one other person. As a word from the Lord, it will carry with it the power to accomplish its end without the person speaking finding it necessary to shout. On the other hand, if a Prophet is inclined to shout out his word, it doesn't lessen the power of the word. It may even, indeed, intensify it to some hearers.

In the next verse Paul says, If I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you except I speak to you by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine? - I Corinthians 14:6. This verse lays out four kinds of public speech that can edify the church. Without doubt, Paul is of the impression that much speaking in tongues will enhance these ministries. Thus, tongues has its value before one stands to speak -- perhaps while on the way to a meeting, or in the hours and days prior to it.

I believe, if we had been traveling along the road with Paul, walking to a meeting in which the Word of the Lord would be expounded, there would be little idle conversation. Paul would be praying in the spirit, talking in tongues, edifying himself for speaking forth the Word to the people gathered. I also believe that if we had been close by when his Epistles were being born, with our heads right next to his, we could have heard him speaking and praying in tongues.

The same can work for us. Speaking in tongues can lead to an anointed insight into truth, the release of knowledge, the speaking forth of words directly from the Lord, or to the teaching of God's Word.

The ministry of revelation is a full dimensional exposition of truth. The Greek word, apokalúpsis, is also in the title of the final book of the New Testament. It means "a disclosure or unveiling" of some one or some thing. As Paul used it here, he had in mind the disclosure of truth. It could be the unveiling of truth contained in the Scriptures but not easily understood. It could be the disclosure of truth about a person or a situation. The revelation of truth can give guidance that will prompt a person to move in a certain direction, or else not move. It can bring about the disclosure of unhealthy conditions in persons needing inner healing. The spirit of revelation can move in many directions. It is needful and beneficial.

The ministry of knowledge associated with the Holy Spirit is also needful. Through it, things that cannot be known by the natural mind are made known, as when Jesus ministered to the woman at the well (John 4:17,18).

The ministry of teaching can also be helped greatly by the Holy Spirit. This is the ministry of laying out truth so it can be easily grasped by the hearers. It is necessary for the teacher to have spent much time studying the Scriptures and waiting before the Lord for truth to become real and understandable in his own being. He can more properly lay it out before others with anointing and conviction when he Holy Spirit has had free course to work in him. Much speaking in tongues in private will enable a teacher to present lessons that can be easily received by the hearers and put to work in the living out of life.

FIVE - Tongues is beneficial in praying. Paul made a simple statement about this. He said, I will pray with the spirit- I Corinthians 14:15.

At one time I thought praying with the spirit meant praying with fervor and emotion - in one's own natural language. But from the context of I Corinthians 14, we find Paul was laying out principles regarding speaking in tongues. To him praying with the Spirit meant praying with tongues.I Corinthians 14:14 makes this clear.

Insight regarding this unusual kind of praying comes from a statement he made in Romans 8:26,27. If we look carefully at this, we find three important principles. Likewise (1) the Spirit helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but (2) the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And (3) He that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God - Romans 8:26,27.

We all have an infirmity. It is our weakness in praying. The Holy Spirit will help us in this weakness by doing the praying for us and in us. Sometimes He does this with groanings which cannot be uttered. Always He prays according to what is right from God's viewpoint.

Helps, as used in this verse, is from a powerful Greek word meaning "to take hold of a burden with someone." Not knowing how to pray is a heavy burden. When the necessities facing us demand answers, and we are baffled as to how to pray, the Holy Spirit takes up this burden and does the praying for us. He does this from within us with groanings so deep they cannot be spoken.

What could the unutterable groanings be? As we've walked with the Lord for years, we've come to the conviction it is that gift of tongues that takes off into the deep parts of our spirit much like the thinking of thoughts works in the deep parts of our mind.

Many times situations baffle us while our humanity fails to come up with a solution, or even with enough understanding to ask God for the solution. It is in these times, when our intellect is at a loss for words and divine intervention is so necessary, that our spirit teams with the Holy Spirit for the intercession.

Praying with the spirit is an operation that can go on at any time, even in the midst of other activities. It is not necessary to close the eyes, move the lips or make strange expressions while doing it. One of the things I appreciate about Glenda is that whenever she is with me in a meeting where I am ministering, she prays in the spirit. I do the same for her when she is ministering. This is like one member of a team running interference while another member carries the ball.

Praying with the spirit has continually proved to be a cleanser and healer for my mind. Praying with the spirit can be one of my best kept secrets, though it proves to be of such value that I want everyone to know it. When Paul said, in I Corinthians 14:15, that he prayed with the spirit, he also said he prayed with the understanding. We have much to learn from him at this point. Apart from writing his Epistles, prayer was probably the most important ministry he had. In his closing years while a prisoner in Rome, he wrote Letters to the churches he helped establish in Asia Minor. In these Letters he told what he was praying for the believers in those churches. His prayers are a help to us today as we learn to pray with the spirit and with the understanding also.

We can find what Paul prayed in Ephesians 1:15-20; Ephesians3:14-20; Philippians 1:9-11 and Colossians 1:9,10. We call these Paul's Prison Epistle Prayers.

Great strength can come to our praying when we couple the understanding of Paul's prayers with praying with the spirit. This becomes powerful intercession.

Jude adds his admonition with this insight as to what praying in the Spirit brings to pass in us. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God... Jude 20,21a. Wow!

SIX - Tongues releases us to a very high and wonderful form of worship. Paul gives insight to this when he says, I will also sing with the spirit - I Corinthians 14:15. This is one of the greatest delights there is. Sometimes our human words of worship and praise are not good enough to express the glory that should be given to the Lord. Then we can sing with the spirit.

After I received the baptism in the Holy Spirit and began speaking with tongues, I remained for a while with the denomination of which I was a part. During this time I found it was best to remain somewhat quiet about the new gift working in my life. When we met together to worship, it was our common practice to sing from hymnals. Apart from this and singing a few short choruses, it was the only opportunity I had to sing with others. While singing those hymns, I really wanted to continue longer in worship and sing with the spirit.

Not knowing any place where the gift of tongues might be practiced, I found it was quite nice to sing with the spirit along with others in the congregation as they sang from the hymnal. Now this is not to say that hymns and gospel songs in English have no value. Many are the times my soul has worshipped the Lord while singing "All Hail the power of Jesus Name," or "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing," or "How Firm a Foundation, Ye Saints of the Lord," or a gospel song like "No Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus." The hymns of the church have done much for me in establishing my faith in the Lord Jesus. But frequently, just the singing of the hymns, or of Gospel songs and choruses, leaves my spirit on a lower plane than it wants to go. That's when singing with the spirit became so useful.

Be Still

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Be still, and know that I am God...”
(Psalm 46:10, NIV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

When God created Adam, He put him in the Garden of Eden, a very quiet, peaceful, tranquil place. That’s where God met him and spoke with him, in a place of peace.

Today’s life can be very noisy. If we allow it, all of us can live stressed, uptight, in a hurry and on edge. In the midst of the whirlwind of activity going on around us, we’ve got to learn to not let the busyness, the frustration and stress get on the inside of us. It may be hectic on the outside, but deep down in your spirit, you can be at rest because you know God has you in the palm of His hand.

Maybe you have been worried for a long time or stressed because a dream hasn’t come to pass or upset over a challenge you’re dealing with. Just like God met Adam at a place of peace, God is saying, “There may be trouble all around, but I am calling you to a place of peace. Be still and know that I am God. Come to Me, and I will give you wisdom, strength and grace for everything you face.”

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, thank You for drawing me to the place of peace. I choose to be still. I choose to find rest in You. I choose to trust You knowing that my days are ordered by You in Jesus’ name. Amen

Remove Your Attention from the City’s Potholes

Tuesday, 5 November 2013

“As I focus upon what I want, I feel good. If I focus upon lack of what I want, I will feel bad.”
So let’s take it a little further. Can you focus upon more than one thing at a time? You cannot. Can you feel more than one way at a time? Can you feel good and bad at the same time? You cannot. And so, is it not logical—for it certainly falls within the guidelines of the Law of Attraction—that if you are focusing upon what you do want, you cannot, at the same time, be focusing upon what you do not want? And, if, when you focus upon what you want, you will feel good; and, if, when you feel good, you would be in the positive mode of attraction, then would not your most important work be to look for the positive aspects of all things, to look for the parts of all things that are uplifting to you—and to get your attention off of the potholes?
Sometimes, when first learning about Deliberate Creation, our physical friends will worry. They are afraid that every negative thought they think is going to reach out into the cosmos and bring some monster into their experience. We want to ease your fear bv reminding you that you are living the balance of your thought, so it requires quite a bit of thought about something before it will manifest in your experience. But as a people who have lived in a society that is predominantly oriented toward criticism and to what is wrong, always wanting to face the facts, you have become those, even in your individual thoughts, who predominantly worry, rather than predominantly know that all is well.
We want to encourage you to give more of your attention to what makes you feel good—not something so radical that you must control every thought—just make a decision that you will look ‘or what you want to see. It is not a difficult decision to make, but it can make a big difference in what you bring into your experience.

Get Back Up

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again...”
(Proverbs 24:16, NIV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Life is full of things that try to push us down. We all face disappointments and setbacks. Maybe you received some bad news about your health or perhaps a relationship didn’t work out. That was a setback. It’s easy to get discouraged or lose your enthusiasm or even be tempted to just settle where you are. But if we’re going to see God’s best, we have to have a “bounce-back” mentality. That means when you get knocked down, you don’t stay down. You get back up again. You have to know that every time adversity comes against you, it’s a setup for a comeback!

Remember, as a believer in Jesus, the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives on the inside of you. There is no challenge too difficult, no obstacle too high, no sickness, no disappointment, no person, nothing that can keep you from your God-given destiny. If you stay in faith, then God will turn what was meant to be a stumbling block into a stepping stone, and you’ll move forward in strength, full of faith and victory!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, thank You for setting me up for success in everything I do. I choose to trust and rely on You knowing that Your plans are for my good. I know my best days are ahead of me and look ahead to the blessings You have in store for me in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Inspiration

Tuesday, 29 October 2013

“There is nothing more delicious than to have conscious awareness of a personal desire, conscious recognition of resistance that is preventing or slowing the manifestation, conscious releasing of that resistance, and then conscious recognition of the manifestation. That is Deliberate (Conscious) Creation at its best!

It seems a paradox to some—in the beginning—while it is not paradoxical at all: “I want these things because I would feel better in the having of them, but my awareness of their absence prevents me from having them. But if I can find a way of feeling better even without having them, then they can be mine.” A powerful Universal truth is simply this: you cannot attract the presence of something wanted when predominantly aware of its absence.

A withdrawal of attention from the unwanted condition is necessary in order to release it from your experience, but it is also necessary to cease the resistant thought that pinched off the Well-Being to begin with. This meditation process helps accomplish both of those things, and it lays the basis of a new and improved outlook on life... You will find it easier to find increasingly better things to think about. It will be easier to see the positive aspects in situations and people. You will find compliments flowing from you, and you will feel appreciation for more things.

The less resistant thoughts you think, the better you will feel; and the better you feel, the less resistant thoughts you will think. And because of all of that, your point of attraction will improve, causing improved manifestation of relationships and finances, as well as bodily conditions.”

Attitude in Adversity

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”
(Habakkuk 3:17–18, NIV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

We all face challenges, difficulties and times when things don’t go our way. God doesn’t send these storms, but He will allow us to go through certain things in order to shape our character and prove our faith. Really, it’s in our times of difficulty that we grow and develop.

God wants to use the tough times in our lives to do a work in us. He wants to strengthen and develop us. Our attitude in times of adversity is the evidence of our maturity. Are we going to treat people right even when we’re being mistreated? Are we going to stay full of joy even when the bottom falls out? Are we going to be faithful even in the dry seasons of our lives when we don’t see anything good happening?

It may take more effort. You may have to work harder to keep a good attitude, but remember, attitude and faith in God is the key to your promotion. As you keep that positive attitude of faith and expectancy, even in times of adversity, God will deliver you and move you forward into the destiny He has prepared for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, I want to grow spiritually and be more like You. I choose to trust You in times of adversity knowing that You are working things out for my good. Renew a right attitude in me by Your Spirit in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Switch Over to the Victory Channel

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things.”
(Philippians 4:8, NKJV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

It’s interesting that our mind will naturally gravitate toward the negative. A study showed how positive and negative memories are handled by different parts of the brain. A negative memory takes up more space. There’s more to process. Because of this, we will remember the negative more than the positive. For example, a person will remember losing $50 more than they will remember gaining $50.

Knowing this, we have to be proactive with our thoughts. When the negative memories come back to the movie screen of our mind, many people pull up a chair, get some popcorn and watch them all over again. No, the point is that’s not the only channel. There’s another movie playing on a channel that’s filled with your accomplishments and victories.

Instead of staying on that negative channel, you’ve got to switch over to your victory channel. You’re not going to move forward into the new things God has in store if you’re always replaying the negative things that have happened to you. Instead, learn to change the channel. Meditate on victory and move forward in the victory and blessing God has in store for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, today I choose to set my focus on what You’ve done in my life. I choose to change the channel in my mind from defeat to victory. I set my thoughts on Your love and thank You for Your blessing in every area of my life in Jesus’ name! Amen.

- Abraham Hicks (Money and the Law of Attraction)

Sunday, 27 October 2013

Hello my amazing readers, hope everything is going well for you. I am gonna be sharing some amazing wisdom from Abraham Hicks. Enjoy and apply.

We want you to understand that if you continue to look at what-is and speak of what-is, you will not find the improvement that you desire. You may see a parade of changing faces and places, but your life experience will essentially show no improvement. If you want to effect substantial change in your life experience, you have to offer substantially different vibrations, which means you must think thoughts that feel different as you think them.

The void that these people are feeling cannot be filled with things or satisfied with action, because the feeling of void is about the vibrational discord between their desires and their chronic habits of thought. Offering better feeling thoughts, telling a different story, looking for positive aspects, pivoting to the subject of what you really do want, looking for positive what-ifs – that’s how you fill that void. And when you do, a most interesting thing will occur in your experience – the things you’ve wanted will begin to flood into your experience. But these things that you’ve been wanting will flood into your experience not to fill your void, because that void no longer exists, they flow in because your void no longer exists. Certainly, you will gather many magnificent things into your experience. Our message is not for you to stop wanting, having or doing. Our message is for you to want and accumulate and do from your place of feeling good.

Mind Stuff

Friday, 25 October 2013

Your business was created by virtue of your thought, not your action. Many people feel disagreement with that statement because they believe they are seeing the results of physical effort and action. We certainly do not disagree that you live in a world of action and that results can be attributed to action, but when you realize that your vibration plays a far greater role in the outcomes that you‘re producing than does your action, and you begin to put more emphasis on your vibrations, thoughts and your emotions, you‘ll discover a powerful leverage of your time and energy that will profoundly affect your outcomes. In short, you will achieve far greater results with much less time and effort.

The most valuable skill that you could ever develop is the skill of directing your thoughts toward what you want, to be adept at quickly evaluating all situations and then quickly coming to the conclusion of what you most want, and then giving your undivided attention to that. There is tremendous skill in directing your own thoughts that will yield results that cannot be compared with results that mere action can provide.

The Benefits of Cucumber Juice

Friday, 25 October 2013

Vegetables should help form the foundation of your diet -- women need 2.5 cups daily and men need 3 cups, recommends the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Each cup of cucumber juice counts as 1 cup of veggies to help you reach these intake goals. In addition to the general benefits of a diet rich in vegetables -- including a lower risk of obesity and some types of cancer, according to the USDA -- drinking cucumber juice offers specific health benefits due to its nutrient content.

Vitamin K
Drinking cucumber juice helps you reach your recommended daily intake of vitamin K. This vitamin helps you build strong bone tissue and nourishes your kidneys. It also plays an important role in blood clotting -- it activates proteins that trigger blood coagulation, so that you can stop bleeding after suffering tissue damage. Consuming cucumber juice helps to fight the effects of vitamin K deficiency, which can include nosebleeds, bruising and bleeding gums.

Copper
Cucumber juice also provides a source of copper. Copper helps you make neurotransmitters, the family of chemicals your brain cells need to communicate. It helps you produce healthy red blood cells, strengthens your connective tissue and boosts your immune system. It protects you from free radical damage -- cellular damage that develops when you're exposed to environmental toxins or sunlight. The copper in cucumber juice also supports your active lifestyle, since your cells need copper to produce useable energy.

Calcium
Cucumber juice serves as a vegan-friendly source of calcium, an essential mineral. Hydroxyapatite, the mineral tissue that adds strength to your teeth and bones, contains calcium, and getting enough calcium helps retain your bone density. Your muscles also use calcium to contract, and your nervous system relies on small amounts of calcium to help transmit nerve impulses. Getting enough calcium also helps maintain your body's hormone balance, since calcium in your bloodstream helps control hormone release.

Considerations and Serving Tips
Cucumber juice has one major nutritional disadvantage compared to whole cucumber -- it does not contain dietary fiber, the indigestible carbohydrate found in intact cucumber. If you drink cucumber juice as part of your daily vegetable intake, make sure you also eat whole veggies to boost your fiber intake. Whole grains, legumes and nuts also contain fiber. You can also utilize the fiber from cucumber after juicing -- simply freeze the leftover pulp collected from your juicer, and use it to add fiber to pureed soups and sauces. In addition to enjoying cucumber juice on its own, you can use the juice as a base for healthy smoothies -- try blending the juice with frozen melon balls and fresh mint, or with strawberries and basil, for a refreshing beverage.

Don’t Underestimate What You Have

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin...”
(Zechariah 4:10, NLT)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

When David faced Goliath, in the natural, all he had was a slingshot and five smooth stones. It looked insignificant and ordinary, nothing special. But God breathed on it, and he defeated Goliath and became the king of Israel. Sampson was surrounded by a huge army. Everywhere he looked there were horses, chariots and weapons. All he had was the jawbone of a donkey. No weapon. No armor. Nobody backing him up. But he picked up that jawbone, God breathed on it, and he defeated 1,000 men; the whole army. All Moses had was on ordinary stick, something he found on the ground. Yet, when he picked it up and held that rod in the air, the Red Sea supernaturally parted. All John and Dodie Osteen had were 90 people and an abandoned, rundown feed store, yet God breathed on them and did something extraordinary.

Today, don’t underestimate what you have. It may look small and insignificant. Compared to what you’re facing, it seems impossible; but when God breathes on your life, the odds dramatically change! Stay open, keep expecting, stay close to Him and watch Him do something extraordinary in your life!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, today I bless You and glorify You. Thank You for taking what I have in my hand and breathing Your life into it. Today, I expect the extraordinary. I expect to see You move on my behalf as I give You the praise and glory in all things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Lack No Good Thing

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing.”
(Psalm 34:10, NLT)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

It’s easy to think, “If I had more money, I could accomplish my dreams. If I had this or that, or knew the right people, then I could do something great.” But as long as you feel like you’re lacking or that you were shortchanged, then you’ll make excuses to be less than your best.

Today, get a new perspective. God has given you exactly what you need for the season that you’re in. You have the talent, the friends, the connections, the resources, the experience you need for right now. It doesn’t mean that’s all you’re ever going to have. You may need more next month or next year. When that time comes, God will make sure that you have what you need. Because your trust is in the Lord, you don’t have to worry. You lack no good thing.

Remember, you are equipped, empowered and anointed for this moment. You are not lacking. You have what it takes. Rejoice because increase is coming. Promotion is coming. New opportunities are coming. You are ready for whatever may come because you put your faith and trust in Him.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, thank You for Your provision in my life. Today I declare that I trust You! You give me everything that I need as I rest and hope in You in Jesus’ name. Amen!

The Fullness of the Blessing

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“But I know that when I come to you, I shall come in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.”
(Romans 15:29, NKJV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

God wants you to live in the fullness of His blessing. His blessing is His supernatural empowerment. It is His favor. We’ve all seen a measure of His blessing, but there is a whole new level He wants to take you to. God has promises and opportunities in store for you that you haven’t even thought of yet. What you’ve seen in the past is only a fraction of what God wants to do in your future.

Understand that God likes to outdo Himself. He wants to open doors for you and bring out talents and abilities that you didn’t even know you had. Remember, the God we serve is a God of abundance. He is the God of more than enough. Not only does He want to meet your needs, He wants to give you enough to bless other people. That’s living in the fullness of the blessing!

Today, don’t settle where you are. Your destiny is not determined by the economy, your past, or what anyone else thinks or says; your destiny is determined by Almighty God. He wants you to tap into a greater measure of His blessing and live in the fullness He has in store for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, I come before You today with an open and humble heart, ready to receive all You have for me. Teach me to live a life that is pleasing to You so that I can be an example of Your love in the world around me in Jesus’ name. Amen.

7 Habits of Highly Positive People: The Secret to Constant Happiness

Wednesday, 16 October 2013

1. Don’t let bad things pull you down

Highly positive people take bad things and see the good things in them.

Bad things can happen to anyone. The difference between a positive person and a negative one isn’t the events that happen to them but how they respond to those events. While negative people let bad things pull them down, positive people don’t. They take bad things and make the best out of them.

As Randy Pausch once said, “We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.”

A great example is Oprah Winfrey, one of the most influential women in the world. She was, for a time, the world’s only black billionaire. Oprah may be rich and successful today, but she faced extreme hardship as a child.

When she was born up till the age of six, Oprah lived in rural poverty with her grandmother. She was so poor that she often wore dresses made of potato sacks, for which the local children made fun of her for.

When she was nine, Oprah was sexually abused–by the people closest to her, her cousin, uncle, and a family friend. At 13, after years of abuse, Oprah ran away from home. She was pregnant at 14 but her son died shortly after birth.

She attended an affluent suburban high school, Lincoln High School, but had her poverty constantly rubbed in her face as she would ride to school with fellow African-Americans who were servants of her classmates’ families.

Despite this extreme hardship, Oprah did not let it get her down. She overcame her adversity to become a benefactor to others, first becoming a radio anchor at 19, then having her own daytime talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show at 22. Through the show, she has helped millions of people around the world, empowering people to take charge of their life and drawing from both her life lessons and her interviewees’ life lessons to inspire others.

If Oprah had caved in the face of hardship, she would never be where she is in life. She is such a positive light because she chose to make the best out of difficulties she was dealt with and subsequently use these lessons to help others.

Likewise for you, don’t ever let yourself get pulled down by your difficulties. Rather, ask yourself what you can learn from them and how you can turn them around to create the life you seek. Such a proactive approach is the start to living an empowered, happy life.

2. Appreciate every good thing that comes your way

Highly positive people are grateful for every good thing that comes their way.

A month ago I conducted a 14-day gratitude challenge on my personal development blog, Personal Excellence, to over 200 participants. Aside from the assigned gratitude tasks to be done one task a day, I asked my participants to identify at least three things to be grateful for every day.

While it was awkward to deliberately find things to be grateful for at the beginning, many participants quickly eased into the task after a couple of days. From friendships, to daily coffee, to burnt toast, to family vacations, to life itself, many gained a new-found appreciation for these very things which they tended to take for granted.

The participants emerged from the challenge more appreciative and positive of life, even though their lives have technically not changed much compared to before the challenge.

Many of us tend to focus on the negative things in life and that naturally makes us feel negative. Why not pay attention to the many great positive things in our lives instead? For example, instead of being upset at the traffic jam you are in right now, why not be grateful for the vehicle you get to drive?

Instead of lamenting about your lousy boss, why not be grateful that you have a boss to lament about as opposed to being retrenched or unemployed? You’ll be surprised to see how many great things you already have going on with this little mindset shift.

3. Lead a well-rounded life

Highly positive people lead a well-rounded life. This means they don’t let work take over their life; neither do they let their relationships override their personal agenda.

I used to devote all my attention to work, to the point where I deprioritized my social life and my personal leisure. While it was great fun working since my work (helping others to grow) is my passion, I became very uninspired after a while because I was neglecting my other life areas. This was when I realize the importance of a well-rounded life to my emotional well-being.

So today, I ensure that I devote time to the core areas of my life: career, love, family, friends, self (through recreation), and contribution. My life wheel video shares the 11 core areas that make up our lives (collectively termed as the “life wheel”) and how to start achieving a 10/10 in all the areas.

4. Deal with your problems right away; don’t let them linger

Highly positive people deal with their problems right away rather than ignore them.

One thing I consistently teach on my blog and in my coaching is not to ignore your problems. Because ignoring your problems doesn’t mean that they will go away. Often times they will linger around and weigh you down subconsciously, even though you don’t realize that.

For example, I used to be an emotional eater where I would eat in response to my emotions like stress and sadness. For a long time I never dealt with this problem, choosing instead to drown myself in food whenever I felt bad.

Later I realized that I was utterly miserable because my stress eating (a) was causing me to gain extra weight, and (b) had turned me into a slave of food. It was only two years ago when I began tackling this issue and a year ago when I achieved complete resolution.

A simple tip to deal with your problems is to (a) keep a record of all outstanding issues you’d like to deal with, then (b) work on them one at a time. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming tackling multiple problems, but doing it one at a time will help you to manage things easily.

5. Let go

Highly positive people let go of the things that do not support them in living a conscious and positive life. This includes toxic and negative relationships.

I once had to let go of a deep friendship of 10 years because we were severely holding each other back. While I was always working on bettering myself, he tended to procrastinate on his own development and would at times live vicariously through my progress.

His lack of proactiveness in living the life of his dreams would negatively impact me as we had always agreed to work on our life goals together and take action together as best buds. I also felt that I was responsible for his inactions if he was truly living vicariously through my own goal progress.

While we tried to work things out in the beginning, it never happened. All our attempts to resolve this issue drained us as we kept going round in circles. After years as buddies, we were simply not compatible as each other’s good friend anymore.

We finally parted ways after 10 years and we immediately felt relieved of a dead weight.

Looking back I wish we had moved on earlier because the later years of our friendship actually drained us more than they helped us to grow.

Think about the negative things in your life right now — from toxic people, to energy vampires, to negative beliefs, to unhappy thoughts, to things that trigger unhappy memories — and start letting go of them, one by one. The sooner you let them go, the happier you will be.

6. Take responsibility for your life

Highly positive people take responsibility for their lives because they realize that happiness is a choice.

For all the problems, heartaches, toxic people, and baggage you are facing, take responsibility for them. While you may not have created those problems and they may be the result of others’ misactions, you can still take responsibility for experiencing them. Doing so puts you in the position to put a stop to them.

For example, I once experienced a heartbreak with someone I liked. While initially I faulted him for bringing me such pain and anguish, it was only in the later years when I took responsibility for my emotions and the situation that I was finally able to move on.

I later realized that I can literally control my happiness by taking responsibility of my negative emotions (and subsequently my life). Because it’s when I do that I can then take action to address my unhappiness and the situations causing it, rather than putting blame on others. Subsequently, I was able to easily move on from two other relationships that didn’t work out.

7. Spread love and kindness (by helping others)

Last but not least, highly positive people spread love and kindness to others without expecting to get anything back in return.

One of the most rewarding things one can do in life is to help others. This is something I have experienced every day for my past five years of running my personal development blog.

The changes I see in my readers’ lives, the happy looks on their faces, and the deep emotional shifts they experience from reading my articles or attending my courses — these bring so much joy into my life and are reason enough for me to continue what I’m doing forever.

While some of us may think that we need to achieve X status or Y age before we can help others, that’s not true at all. The simplest things can help others: one little phone call to a distanced friend, one pat on the back to congratulate a co-worker for a job well done, or a shoulder to lean on for a friend in need.

I started my blog at a relatively young age of 24 which most people wouldn’t think of as an old-enough age to offer help or advice to others. That was a limiting belief on their part though, because we can always help others no matter how old we are or where we are in life.

In the past five years I was able to help many break through limiting careers, let go of toxic relationships, gain strength from hard moments, excel in their goals, and achieve greater heights by simply focusing on helping those I can help, one step at a time.

If I had thought that one person couldn’t make a difference, I wouldn’t be sitting here writing this blog post today, and neither would I be running a personal development blog or doing life coaching for others.

You have more power than you think you have, so use that to help others. You will find that when you give, you will naturally receive in return as well.

Choose Blessings for Your Future

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.”
(Deuteronomy 30:19, NKJV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Your words have creative power. With your words, you can either bless your future or curse your future. If you want to know what your life is going to be like five years from now, just listen to what you’re saying about yourself today. Too many people go around saying, “I’ll never get well. I’ll never get out of debt.” “It’s flu season. I’ll probably get it.” “This marriage is never going to last.” Then they wonder why they don’t see things turn around. It’s because they’re calling defeat into their future. They’re calling in mediocrity. Don’t let that be you!

When you wake up in the morning, no matter how you feel or what things look like, instead of using your words to describe your situation, use your words to change your situation. Make a declaration of faith by saying, “This is going to be a great day. I have God’s favor. He’s directing my steps.” When you do that, you are choosing to bless your future. You are calling in favor, increase and opportunities. You are opening the door for God to move on your behalf so you can live the abundant life He has for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, thank You for the blessings You have prepared for my future. I submit my ways and my words to You. Help me to speak what You speak and keep me close to You. I give You the glory in all things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Micah Stampley- Desperate People Lyrics

Monday, 14 October 2013

I've seen the God of wonders
Work miracles for me
Those with gifts and talents
Spoke prophetically
The mantles of Elijah, Paul and Timothy
I want to see that power at work inside of me

Cause I'm tired of the status quo
There's gotta be more than this
There's gotta be more, gotta be more
There's gotta be more than this
Desperate people do desperate things '
And we're pressing in
There's gotta be more
Gotta be more
There's gotta be more than this

There's a people rising the faces shining bright
They speak the name of Jesus
As they're walking toward the light
And we will seek His power, his presence and his grace
And we won't stop persuing, until we see Him face to face,

Cause I'm tired of the status quo,
There's gotta be more than this
There's gotta be more, gotta be more
Gotta be more than this
Cause desperate people do desperate things,
And were pressing in,
There's gotta be more, gotta be more,
Gotta be more than this

We are desperate people we want more more Lord
We are desperate people we want more more Lord

Tithing and early Babylonians

Monday, 14 October 2013

Tithing has been used since the times of the early Egyptians, Babylonians, Arabians, Greeks, Romans, and Chinese. The word "tithe" means "tenth" and the ancient people regarded (the number) 10 as the number representing increase.

The foundation for the ancient law of prosperity is the universal belief that true prosperity comes from a spiritual basis. God, Buddha Nature or Absolute Awareness is the Source of all supply. Our minds, emotions, bodies, our talents, education, experiences, our jobs or professions are all vehicles or instruments of this prosperity; however Spirit or Awareness is the source. It therefore follows that if we want to be consistently prosperous we need to do something to "keep in touch" with that infinite source of all supply.

True Generosity is the practice of selfless giving (ie with no strings attached). It is also known by the universal adage "as you give so shall you receive." Regular, consistent giving opens the door to regular, consistent receiving. This must be done in a specific manner; through the giving of the "tith"” or a "tenth" portion of your income firstly to wherever you are receiving spiritual guidance or inspiration, on a regular monthly basis. You will prosper, and you will also help your spiritual teacher or organization to continue with their spiritual mission of helping mankind. From there - everyone prospers. It is important to emphasize that one's intention need to be on selfless-giving, and not on the getting.

Kahlil Gibran wrote in the Prophet, "It is good to give when asked, but it is better to give when unasked, through understanding."

Prosperity is not just about money. The word wealth means "well-being" and "wholeness." True prosperity includes peace of mind, healthy relationships, protection from negativity, as well as financial abundance. Tithing done in a systematic, business-like, scientific and practical manner helps to open us to receive in all aspects of our lives.

Tithing is an act of faith which functions on spiritual principles in order to protect and bless the "tither". Many people think, "but I can’t afford to tithe" or "I don’t have enough to tithe." These examples of limiting thoughts are part of the reasons why one doesn’t have enough. They contribute to the self -fulfilling prophecy that you’ll never have enough. It sometimes requires a "leap of faith" to overcome these resistant thoughts and allow spiritual abundance, prosperity and well-being into our lives.

Staying Rock Solid

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
(Matthew 7:24, NIV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

When we have rock-solid faith, we won’t be moved by what’s happening around us. We have peace in our hearts and minds because our hope is in God. We have an attitude that says: “I’m not moved by this medical report. I respect and honor people that are trying to help me, but I know God can do what medical science cannot do. God made my body.” “I’m not moved by the economy, the stock market, my job situation. I know God supplies all of my needs. He promised He would prosper me even in a recession.” “I’m not moved by how my children are acting. I’m not stressed out because they’re off course, making poor choices. I know it’s only a matter of time. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Friend, that’s unshakeable faith. That’s building your house on a rock-solid foundation. When the storms of life come, you won’t be moved. How do you stay rock solid? By meditating on the Word of God and following His commands. It’s that simple. Instead of making your circumstances the focus, you make God the focus and stand strong and secure in Him! Today, make spending time with God your number one priority and learn to stay rock solid in Him!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, thank You for Your Word which is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I choose to hide Your Word in my heart. I choose to meditate on Your promises. I know that You are faithful to Your Word and thank You for rock-solid faith as I keep my heart and mind focused on You in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Who God Rewards

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
(Hebrews 11:6, NIV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

When God is first place in your life, and you make pleasing Him is your highest priority, then you can fully expect to live a blessed, fulfilled life! In today’s verse, notice who God rewards. It’s not people who half-heartedly seek Him. It doesn’t say “people who only think about Him when they’re having a problem” or “people who will only come to church when something special is going on.” No, God rewards people who earnestly seek after Him. That means we are determined. We get up every morning and thank Him for His goodness. We go through the day meditating on His promises. We give Him praise in the good times and the tough times. We are constantly stretching, growing, learning and striving to know Him better.

Today, remember, when you diligently seek God, He promises that a reward is coming. He promises He will give you strength, wisdom, favor, good breaks, promotion, healing and restoration. When you seek Him with your whole heart, you will find Him, and you won’t be able to outrun His goodness and blessing!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, I desire to please You in everything I do. I declare that You are good and faithful. I trust You with my whole heart and believe that You are a rewarder of those who diligently seek You. I bless You and honor You today in Jesus’ name. Amen

Wars, Rumors of Wars, Famines, and Earthquakes in Divers Places

Friday, 11 October 2013

Have you ever wondered what the end of the world might be like? Jesus’ disciples did. They asked Jesus about it at the Mount of Olives:

“…what shall be the sign of thy coming, and the end of the world?” (Matt. 24:3)

To millions around the globe, Jesus’ response tells them that it will be a terrible apocalyptic scenario, but students of esoteric interpretation know that Jesus’ answer gives them a secret to the mind. Most scriptures are about the body and mind, not the literal events we read about. Let’s dissect Jesus’ answer to understand this important event and how it could one day relate to you.

First, Jesus’ response:

“And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take head that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars, and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places…”

Do not be deceived by a false Christ

I want to dissect the above scriptures one at a time. Jesus began by telling us that many people will come saying they are the Christ, but do not be deceived. What did he mean?

Put simply, a false Christ is the ego. The ego in man masquerades as truth, when really it is the illusion. And often it is the institutional church which reinforces the ego in man. Man, and more importantly, the ego, will always be around preaching and promoting doctrines, institutions, religious ideologies, and strongholds that keep the lower ego in man in power.

One of the major deficiencies of the church today is that nothing is preached on developing the Christ within. The Christ within is where the real power for transformation is. One of Paul’s and Jesus’ main messages was to help us birth the Christ that is an inherent, latent potential within individual consciousness.

“My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed within you…” (Gal. 4:19).

“To whom God would make known what is the riches of this glory of the mystery among the gentiles (non-spiritual), which is Christ in you…” (1 Col. 1:27).

“…the Kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:21).

Our thoughts make everything in life go round. Our thoughts make or break us. If we can’t view life through spiritually mature eyes, the most insignificant situations become gigantic problems that no salvation message is going to fix. It is the game of the ego. Drama, drama, and more drama. Religious doctrines reinforce the drama. They so often stunt our growth because it puts conscious development on hold. How? Because they cause the ego to become entrenched. Belief systems are established that don’t really serve us or our fellow man. Religious doctrines teach us to be someone which will ultimately perish. It teaches us to believe, “I am right and you are wrong!” The ego is like the Pharisee. It filters the truth into a very limited perspective. Jesus’ mission included showing us the Pharisee can easily lie within us, through the ego.

Wars and rumors of wars

Next Jesus talks about wars and rumors of wars. Wars and rumors of wars having been going on for thousands of years. Can we really believe that Jesus was giving us a literal prophecy? If this was truly one of the warning signs of Jesus, it wouldn’t be valid. Nothing’s changed. There were wars in Jesus’ days and there are wars now. It should be obvious that Jesus wasn’t referring to literal wars. The scriptures always have a deeper meaning.

Exodus 15:3 states:

“The LORD is a man of war; the LORD is his name.”

Does it make any sense to say that the LORD of love, compassion, mercy, and longsuffering is a man of war?

This scripture is puzzling through traditional Christian interpretations. It would seem to justify events like the Inquisition, where millions of people were killed because they weren’t Christians.

Think about the Canaanites whom God asked the Israelites to eradicate from the Promised Land. All these Canaanites represent our lower thoughts and emotions of our selfish desires. Therefore, the LORD is a man of war because the LORD, as the higher self, comes in to clean house so that we can enter the Promised Land (higher states of conscious living).

Thus we can see that God is not a literal man of war; God is a man of war because he fills us so that we can end all wars within ourselves. He is the conqueror of the ego of man.

So what did Jesus really mean when he said there will be wars and rumors of wars?

Wars are symbolic of the conflict created by the ego. The wars are in our heads. Jesus was warning us about what happens in the mind of the individual. Before the death of the ego (the end of the world), the ego reigns. This ego creates conflict. When Christ returns in the individual (within you), the warring of the mind stops! Why? Because we stop identifying with the mind. We realize that the mind and the true intelligence that makes it possible is much larger than the individual ego the mind has the power to manifest. This is what it means to be resurrected.

Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom

Next, Jesus says that nation will rise again nation and kingdom against kingdom. Nations and kingdoms of the world are symbolic for the characters of the lower soul; they are pride, ambition, greed, conceit, and lust. Naturally this rhetoric is a continuation of Jesus’ discourse on the state of man’s ego. First comes the development of our lower natures. But through our experiences (sometimes suffering, as even Jesus learned obedience through suffering), we have the opportunity to advance consciousness.

Consider Isaiah 2:4, another messianic prophecy:

“And he (the messiah, the Christ) shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn anymore.”

We don’t fight wars with swords or spears anymore. We fight wars with missiles, nuclear weapons, and stealth technologies. Is there really a reason to believe that this prophecy is literal if it isn’t even relevant to today?

The mystic Jews who guarded these scriptures as sacred knew this prophecy was all about the day the messiah would return within the consciousness of the individual. Only then can all wars end, internally and externally!

Many Christians believe that the Jew has rejected their true messiah, the Christ. But is this the truth? Sadly, no. The truth is that many Jews and Christians have rejected the messiah and the Christ. They are one and the same. Let us stop bickering over semantics. The ideal that is the messiah and the Christ is beyond doctrine. It is even beyond our belief systems. It is a part of the true power of consciousness itself.

Famines and pestilences

Jesus then said there will be pestilence and famines. I have wrote about these symbols in other posts. Famines represent a severe shortage in the soul; it is a lack of spiritual development in the mental-emotional state. This is perfect language for Jesus to use, because wars usually lead to famine in the natural. It’s no different with the soul and within the individual. When the ego is in charge, your soul is famished. Wars of the mind leave us empty and devoid of life. They leave us famished.

Earthquakes in divers places

Finally, Jesus states that earthquakes will appear in increasing frequency and in places we wouldn’t expect. Review history, and you will see that again this has been the case over the past thousands of years. It’s not a literal prediction of the future. Earthquakes are symbolic of all the chaos in the lower state of consciousness. It’s usually a sign of the purging of the lower qualities of the ego right before a new state of consciousness. This is established many times in scripture.

“And behold, there was a great earthquake; for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came back and rolled away the stone from the door…” (Matt. 28:2).

“And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken, and all the doors were opened, and everyone’s hands were loosed” (Acts. 16:26).

As you can see, the earthquake is a sign of catalyst for the individual. It is a sign of the new age of consciousness. Doors to the mind began to open. Hands (the active principle of spiritual evolution) are loosed. In short, the lower man, the man in the egoic prison, must be shaken up and dismantled so that the higher man can reign, so that the Christ can manifest on earth.

This is true of the Old Testament as well. Whenever the earth opened up to swallow someone or a group, a purging took place and the nation of Israel was able to move forward one step closer to the Promise Land and higher states of consciousness.

Endure

The final message of Jesus is that we must endure.

“But he that endure until the end, the same shall be saved” (Matt. 24:13).

Those who endure to the end have the promise of a new dawn, the dawn of the daystar (Christ) arising in their hearts.

“We have a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well to take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the daystar arise in your hearts (minds)…” (1 Pet. 1:19).

Enduring is about facing the ego. It’s about realizing what the ego is, the game of life. Once we see the game for what it is, we then have more choices about how to play it. The situations in our life that were once monumental become smaller. The joys and the ups of life are more fully appreciated. Even the downs and the lows become meaningful. Life is renewed. It doesn’t mean all of the difficulties suddenly disappear during our sojourn here. It just means that we are no longer bound by the illusion that our situation is who we are. Consciousness can never be so limited.

Is the end of the world really the end of the ego?

Let’s be clear on one thing. The end of the world, at least from Jesus’ standpoint, is not the end of the ego. Ego death is sort of a misnomer. The ego doesn’t really die, just as Jesus didn’t really die on the cross. The life that was in him could never die. Instead, there was a power that resurrected him. The resurrection is symbolic of the new life that is provided when we realize what the ego truly is. It is sometimes termed “death” because it no longer has the power over us that it once did.

“Ego death” is more about a transmutation of the ego, from the lower man to the higher. It’s a transition from the lower ego to the spiritual ego. Even these words don’t do the transformation justice because they are just words. But the consciousness beneath the words is real. It can’t really be explained, only experienced.

Is the ego ultimately still there after what we term, “ego death?” Of course it is. You wouldn’t be an individual if it wasn’t. You wouldn’t have a sense of “I.” Realizing that we are one with everything doesn’t cause us to lose our individuality, but it does enable us to gain a new perspective through our individuality.

The spiritual ego is not motivated by lower thoughts and emotions. In other words, the lower ego ends when you don’t identify with your situation anymore.

So remember, the end of the world and the return of Christ happens within you. It brings new life. And it is one more step towards conscious spiritual advancement.
